Every game has an objectives. While the objective in each game is slightly different, there are some overlaps between games. These are the objectives of ten of my favorite games:

  1. Field hockey. The main objective in field hockey is to score more goals than the other team.

  1. Settlers of Catan. The objective in this game is to score 10 victory points before the other players.

  1. Color Switch. The objective in color swap is to get as high of a score as possible.

  1. Solitaire. Solitaire’s objective is to play all of the cards into the center in numerical order.

  1. Dutch Blitz. The main objective in Dutch blitz is to play the most cards into the center before someone’s blitz pile runs out.

  1. Chess. In chess, the objective is to take your opponent’s King before they take yours.

  1. Checkers. The objective in checkers is to take all of the opponent’s checkers before they take yours.

  1. Monopoly. Monopoly’s objective is to collect the most money before the end of the game.

  1. Trivia Crack. The objective of trivia crack is to earn a character in each category before your opponent.

  1. Stop. In stop, the objective is to win three rounds before your opponent.

While I enjoy games with a wide variety of objectives, most of my favorite games involve earning the most points possible.

Every age has its storytelling form, and video gaming is a huge part of our culture. You can ignore or embrace video games and imbue them with the best artistic quality. People are enthralled with video games in the same way as other people love the cinema or theatre.
